Baby Bottom Line

My name is Lisa, a GTA Mom... and the Mom behind The Baby Bottom Line. I love Mommy sites, product testing and dishing about them with other Moms! I am a mother to a preemie princess born in March 2009 and a Mama’s boy born in December 2012. I am the one person that if you don't want a truthful answer...don't ask me the question. Yes, I will tell you...you look fat in that dress, no..those shoes don't go well with that belt...or don't bother buying that baby product because you'll never use it! Trust me, sometimes you just need a truthful answer, hear that someone else has gone through the same thing or just someone to talk and connect with for support. If that's what you're looking for, I'm here to dish about it!

Why I decided to take the plunge

So it’s finally happened, I have hired myself a cleaning lady. Yes it’s expensive, but you know what? M isn’t in preschool anymore so we’re saving money that way and this is the only time I will be off like this with both of them. When will the next time be? When I retire? I’m not about to spend the next 11 months cleaning two plus hours a day (outside of regular tidying up etc. we're not pigs lol). M goes to school in September,...

Valentine’s Day = LOVE

Valentine’s Day is coming up ALREADY!!! Yikes, where is the time going? This one will be extra special now that T is here, so I’m really excited! What do we do for V-Day? It usually starts with breakfast. We’ve tried to make heart pancakes and stuff in the past, some were epic failures, others not so bad. This year I will try again! Once we get brecky out of the way, we usually do some crafts, cards and handprint art. I’ve done this with...

Welcome Baby T!

YAY! Baby T is here! Born December 30th. I totally didn’t make it to my scheduled C-section date. I had a feeling I wouldn’t and I was off by a few days. Want the deets? Here they are! I went to the hospital with contractions, was monitored for an hour or so, then the doctor came in and we decided it was game time! Baby T was born at 2:35 pm, weighing 7lbs 4oz (over double M’s birth weight). He did spend a few days in the NICU to get...

Pregnancies…They ARE all different

I’ve got my scheduled C-section date! January 3rd baby T will be here… unless someone decides to make his own schedule. It is weird knowing exactly when you’re going to be having a baby, but at the same time, I’m totally a planner so it works for me! I finished up my last day of work! I’m officially on vacation then short term disability (because of the surgery) then, maternity leave. I can’t believe how fast this pregnancy went....

A day in the life of a high risk pregnancy

I’m almost there, 30 weeks - 7 to go! Yes, I have the pleasure of a repeat c-section at 37 weeks… YAY! LOL. Because of the emergency c-section with M and her being breech, I can’t go into labor with baby T or we risk some serious complications. What does a high risk pregnancy mean to the one going through it? It means OB appointments regularly, pre-eclampsia specialist appointments on opposite weeks, diabetic clinic (I didn’t pass my...

Kids think THEY have problems!

With Halloween approaching I asked M what she wanted to be this year. What does she say? A chicken. She was “chicken little” last year. I mentioned that to her and she replied with a “So, I wanna be it again.” I figured hey, I don’t have to buy a costume this year? PERFECT. Until I realized that the costume is somewhere in the basement packed away as its being finished. YIKES! I figured I should “help” her change her mind quite...

Thanksgiving is for giving thanks

I've been prepping M for this year’s thanksgiving festivities. Explaining the meaning of the holiday and why it is so important is just half the battle as she thinks it’s all about turkey and apple pie. I like the fact that her preschool is doing activities to support the cause, but I think she actually understood our whole conversation (which lasted about 20 min by the way). After our “talk” I asked her what she is thankful for this...

Kids are right….sometimes!

When we decided to tell M she was going to be a big sister we really didn’t know if she would “get” the whole concept. Hubby tried and it didn’t click. I explained it in a bit of a different way and it was like you actually saw the light bulb go off. She ran around the room then even offered up her room and her toddler bed. It was really cute and she is SUPER excited to be a big sister! Once we told our family and friends everyone...

Decisions…

Deciding to have another child after you’ve had a preemie is probably one of the most difficult ones you can make. There are a million questions that run through your head and literally, you not only have to take a look at your options, but also decide if you’re willing to take the risk again. Well we made our decision and really got pregnant the first week of trying. Yes, that’s right, M is going to be a big sister in January! I’m...

Is it time for a big girl room?

I think it’s that time, M needs a big girl room. Which means new paint, new ideas (have a ton thanks to Pinterest), new furniture - ahhh!!! I haven’t changed her room at all since see was born other than converting her crib into a toddler one. I’m even thinking of moving her room to where the office if to completely start fresh, and give me the time to do it properly. Am I totally crazy? Then there’s little miss opinion that I’ll...

Baseball season is upon us…

Wow, the winter flew by and now we’re a few weeks away from baseball season! M has changed so much that I’m almost afraid to bring her to the games! 1) They usually start at 7 pm which is, let’s face it, not that far off bedtime. 2) She’s a klutz and I’m a paranoid Mommy. This is the year that I would probably have her in full head gear to be running around. 3) How the heck am I going to keep her occupied for 3+ hours??? If anyone...
