Sandy's Blah, Blah, Blog

I started Oh Baby! Magazine with my husband during my first pregnancy. My love of writing and my obsession with magazines paired with my husband’s many skills have proven to be a great combination. I'm from Toronto - born and raised - and I've been married for eight years. Since the inception of Oh Baby! I've had two babies, Andreas and Alexandra . What a ride it's been! I’d like to share with you my struggles with trying to find this so-called – and I think unachievable - “balance” I keep reading about… Follow Sandy E on Twitter

Mommy, you’re so skinny

My five year old told me that I looked pregnant yesterday. I said, “NO!” and inside I felt like crying, because of all of my struggles with weight loss – or better put, my lack of weight loss.  Outside I laughed and told him he was being silly. He was really cute. About an hour later we were getting ready for bed and I told my husband that Andreas had told me that I looked pregnant. We shared a laugh. Andreas then proceeded to...

Happy Baby On Board! Five Tips To Keep Your Infant Content In The Car…

Once upon a time, I loved road trips... Windows down with music blasting, getting there was truly half the fun! After the birth of my daughter, open windows might mean a draft and instead of Mötley Crue blasting, it was yells of displeasure from a very cute but car-seat-hating baby girl. Eventually, she’d succumb to her fate of remaining buckled, but we have several hundred photos of her “stink eye” - the name we lovingly gave the...

Guilt Be Gone! Simple strategies for taming guilt

Guilt is a sure sign your thinking is unnatural. —A course in miracles One of the most common issues I hear from fellow Moms has to do with guilt: “I went out for a little ‘me’ time and felt guilty the whole time I was out;” “I lost it on my kids and felt guilty for days;” “I just don’t know how to not feel guilty.” Sound familiar?! We’ve all, “been there, done that” and many of us still, “go there, do that” …...

How much is TOO much?

Some of my readers/followers know I’m in the midst of planning M’s 2nd birthday party. Let me tell you it’s now gotten waaay out of control and I need to reel it back in. I was approached by a party planner and a photographer who both wanted reviews so I figured, why not have them take some of the stress off me? Because I get crazy stressed out. I worry about anything from the guest list and wondering if people would want to come, to...

Future Yogi?

I’ve recently shared my struggles with my son in the mornings. I have an update for you. What I know about me I’m still not a morning person. My solution I set my alarm to go off at 6:45am instead of 7:15am – this way I still get to hit the snooze button twice and I’m up 30 minutes earlier. (Crazy I know – but it seems to work) What I know about my son This little guy - who has trouble sleeping – hates waking up...

The holiday from H-E-double hockey sticks

Well…what an end to 2010. Both my husband and I were on vacation, which should be a happy, relaxing time. Um YA-RIGHT! We were all sick... I had the ear-nose-throat thing that was going around, and the hubby and little miss had the stomach bug (yummy). Literally every single day we had off right up to the 3rd of January was a write off and consisted of PJ’s, keeping hydrated and making sure the Kleenex was stocked up. Christmas day was...

Wonderful Mornings

I’m so not a morning person. I hate waking up to an alarm clock. It’s the worst sound ever. My current ‘situation’ (not referring to my abs) is that I generally go to bed without a child next to me. We have eventful nights (musical beds, toilet trips, crying, tantrums, nightmares, etc.) and about 98.9% of the time I wake up sandwiched between both kids, and my husband is always on the edge. Teetering. Every morning, I hit snooze at...

Sometimes things get lost…

My house is kind of like Mary Poppins’ purse. Or a black hole. I have to admit that we have a lot of ‘stuff’. Lots of toys, clothes, shoes, books, DVDs and so much more. As my husband says, “it’s all rubbish” AND just to add to all of my stuff, whenever people come over, they tend to leave their stuff here too. All the time. I should have a “lost and found” bin. BUT even with all of this ‘stuff’ I always manage to know...
