Double The Fun

I'm Brianne and I am a local TV producer and videographer in York Region. My job enables me to share stories and experiences with my viewers. At the age of 32 I am now writing a new chapter of my own...I'm a first time expectant mommy of not only one but two bundles of joy! The journey hasn't been an easy one. It's included a devastating miscarriage, infertility fears, followed by the unexpected yet amazing news that my husband and I will be welcoming twins in the spring. I started writing my blogs as a way to share my experiences, the good and the bad, as well as a way to help other moms and dads out there that might be going through something similar.

Cottaging Follow Up

My last blog was about cottaging with the twins plus the rest of our family with less than ideal weather conditions in the forecast. I knew that it would be a bit rainy but I didn't predict getting stuck smack dab in the middle of a tornado! An Ef-1 touched down about 1 km from our rental cottage and left us with downed trees and no power. After about 12 hours without power, meals cooked on the bbq and flashlights guiding our way we took a...

Introducing a second child

Oh, my sweet dear Henry. What a lovely little lad. All alone, with mama and daddy doting over him day in and day out. His favourite babysitter, “Guy” (aka Kris) taking him to the park. Two loving doggies. As my belly swelled and we prepared for baby number two, I read a lot about gentle introduction of a sibling into a family. My sweet sensitive mop-top, whatever will I do? I didn’t want to make him too excited as many child and parent...

Star Moms Participate in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Celebrity Baby Scoop is joining in on the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS. In the trending campaign, people are asking 2-3 of their friends to dump a bucket of ice water over their heads. In the last few weeks, the #IceBucketChallenge has literally soaked some celebrities, including Justin Timerlake, Jimmy Fallon and Martha...

Back-to-School Time Saving Strategies

With seven kids of my own, I’ve had my fair share of school morning mayhem over the years. Through trial and error, it also taught me what works and what doesn’t work to get everyone dressed, fed breakfast and out the door on time.  School mornings don’t have to be stressful with a few simple measures in place to keep your sanity intact.  Below I’ve shared a few tried-and-true time saving ways to help your kids stay on...

On picking your battles

My husband works a lot. Entirely overnight shifts, five nights a week, so he’s not home a lot. When he is home, our rhythm gets thrown off, the kids get rangy and stuff can get weird. There are a lot of reasons for this, but my biggest thought is that because Matt’s often working, he’s not as good at picking battles as I am. Take, for instance, manners at the dinner table. There has been more than one occasion where, at the end of a...

How to Raise a Child in Today’s World Without Losing Your Mind

It seems like every time you turn around, there’s something new to worry about regarding your children’s safety: Canned vegetables and BPA. Swimming and dry drowning. And now… sunscreen spray and cancer. It’s enough to make any parent lose their mind. While hiding away and doing our best to shield our children from anything that could harm them may be a tempting solution at times, we all know that eventually we’re going to have to...

Back-to-School Lunchbox Love

I say this every year, but weren’t we just celebrating the last day of school?! As summer winds down, it is time to get ready for another exciting school year. Or maybe you are helping your little one get ready for their very first day of school. I remember those days (and the anxiety…mostly mine!) like they were yesterday. Shopping for backpacks, buying new shoes, getting haircuts, choosing a favorite lunchbox – those are all fun...

Shoes, shoes, shoes.

My family loves shoes. Can you guess my daughter’s first word? Shoe. She is still a shoe lover. Back to school is quickly approaching and like most parents, I usually use back to school as a time to buy my kids new shoes. I don’t usually go over the top like some. I don’t buy an entire wardrobe for each kid, but they do each get school supplies (depending on age), a new outfit for the first day and a new pair of shoes. I’m a fan of...

On Car Trips and Toddlers

We are very lucky to have a car. It might be a bit of a rust bucket, but it purrs like a kitten and has at least a year or two left before we have to start sinking money into it. I love our car. The only thing I don’t love is how small our car is. We tend to mostly use our car for long car trips to visit family, since we don’t have any nearby. When Lauchie grew out of his bucket seat (Henry’s old Graco Snugride 32, in case you were...

School starts soon – is your child fully vaccinated?

Time flies, and before you know it, you’re getting your little ones signed up for daycare or school. Just remember that part of getting them ready is making sure they are up to date on their vaccinations. Immunization is not compulsory in Canada, though recommendations have been put...
