Treehouse’s Big Day Out is a tradition we never want to give up!

Last year, Treehouse TV debuted Big Day Out – a two day “festival” for preschoolers and toddlers centred around a concert featuring our family favourite The Wiggles! I had a chance last year to interview the team about the show, the charity it supports and their new (then) album:

This year, I was so excited to learn that Big Day Out was happening again, and that The Wiggles would, AGAIN be headlining, but this time, also with Canada’s very own Splash n’ Boots!

I’ll be honest, I say it a lot, my kids don’t listen to very much “kids music” around the house. What we do let them listen to, however, are The Wiggles and Splash n’ Boots because the music is fun, there are great videos and there is so much tongue-in-cheek humour for the adults, that it’s hard not to enjoy the fun! Heck, last year, The Wiggle’s tour shirt was a play on the classic Ramone’s logo.

The thing I love most about Big Day Out is that it’s not just a concert – it’s an entire day of fun at Toronto’s Molson Amphitheatre! With 4 concert options over the course of two days, Treehouse has really thought of everything, including working the shows around nap times.

When you buy your ticket (ranging from about 30-130 dollars), you are buying not only concert tickets, but also entrance into activities, character meet and greets and more. As our kids get older, I’m happy to spend our money more and more on events like this as opposed to toys that they forget about in mere moments, and I can’t recommend Big Day Out enough.

I know that the idea of going to this kind of event can be overwhelming, but I can promise you that setting your kids up for events like this at an early age is fun! And if you’re worried about volume, you can always use noise-cancelling headphones which are a good investment anyways!

I’m already planning our half-day at Treehouse’s Big Day Out and will probably let the older boys each pick a very small piece of memorabilia to bring home with them. Their love of live music started with outdoor rock festivals, and since our favourite grown-up fest (Riot Fest) is happening when we’re on our road trip [link to Graco review], Big Day Out will be our big summer concert day this year.

See you there!
