Jodie Sweetin Tells CelebrityBabyScoop: “Motherhood Helped Change Everything In My Life”

Stephanie Tanner is all grown up! Jodie Sweetin, 29, is teaming up with fellow Full House alum, Dave Coulier (a.k.a. Uncle Joey), in a fun new web series titled Can’t Get Arrested.

The actress has come a long way since her days of battling addictions to alcohol and meth. Jodie opens up to Celebrity Baby Scoop about how she was “able to turn everything around,” and how motherhood has transformed her into “a better person and happier inside.” The thoughtful actress goes on to talk about her return to school to become a certified drug and alcohol counselor: “I thought that after everything that I’ve been through, I’d like to turn it into something positive.” Read on about Jodie’s sweet daughters, Zoie, 3, and Beatrix, 14 months, and their holiday plans.

CBS: How is baby Beatrix?

JS: “She is fantastic! She’s 14-months-old now and she is walking – not well! She’s still a bit wobbly. But she’s working on it and makes her way about half-way across the living room now before she plops down.”

CBS: And tell us about Zoie.

JS: “She’s 3 1/2 and started preschool this September and she’s just loving it! We just went to her Halloween party and saw all the costumes and went to the parade and all that fun stuff they do in preschool now. It’s so adorable! She’s getting big now — she’s actually tall for her age. It’s just so fun to watch them grow up.”

CBS: Do the girls get along well?

JS: “They do. I was an only child, so it’s interesting to watch the dynamic of, ‘Mine,’ and, ‘Give me that.’ If the baby is playing with something, it suddenly becomes 10 times more interesting to Zoie and she has to have it. The baby is too little so when Zoie takes it, Beatirix just goes, ‘Okay whatever.’ But I can just see that soon enough Beatrix is going to want it back, and there’s going to be an argument, and it’s going to be, ‘Mom…’ But for the most part, they get along pretty well.”

CBS: Sounds like you’re a busy mama!

JS: “Oh, yes! That’s for sure. I volunteer at Zoie’s preschool too, so I’m pretty busy doing that. And now I’m back to work and I’m going to school as well. Things are busy, but really good.

I’m getting my certificate to become an alcohol and drug counselor. I thought that after everything that I’ve been through, I’d like to turn it into something positive. At this point, I’m not really sure if I’ll do with my certificate. I could work at different facilities, I could use it in my public speaking. There’s a lot of things that it could open doors for me if I decided to really focus on that and really get into it. It’s just one of those things that I just thought, ‘I’ve been through so much,’ and I thought that it would be a positive thing to make out of everything and hopefully be able to help some people as well.

I’m also shooting a new web series, and I’m also still auditioning because I still want to act too.”

CBS: Has motherhood helped you transform your life?

JS: “I went through some tough stuff and now I’m centered on mommy life. I was able to turn everything around. It’s been a really positive experience for me now. Motherhood changed my priorities. And you grow up a lot when you have kids — hopefully! For me, it was a huge motivator for me. I found myself becoming a different person; a better person and happier inside. I became happier with the simple things in life and I think that’s a direct result of being a mom and all the growth that has happened since then. For me, motherhood really helped change everything in my life, in a wonderful way.”
