Adventures in Food: The Strawberry
Me: “Look at this delicious, red, fresh strawberry.”
This piqued my son’s interest enough to come over to where I was standing in our kitchen.
Me: “Do you want to try it?”
Son: “No.”
Me: “Why not? You only need to take one bite and if you don’t like it, you don’t have to eat the rest.”
Hook, line and sinker.
Son: “Um… ok.”
I watched as my lovely little boy took a deep breath and bit into that tasty strawberry. His eyes went wide, my heartbeat quickened.
Was he now a strawberry lover? Was I witnessing a transformation?
What a brave boy he was for leaving his comfort zone, and trying a new food. As he swallowed that one bite of that delicious strawberry, he smiled at me with his eyes and beautiful mouth. That smile would make any girl melt. My heart swelled with pride. He liked it! He really liked it!
Me: “So what do you think?”
Son: “It’s so good Mommy. It’s so yummy! Really it is!”
My heart sang.
Son: “But I don’t want anymore.”
He then ran off to play and hasn’t touched a strawberry since. *Sigh*
