“ME” Time For Mom

mom 250

We’re moms. We are constantly being interrupted, rushed, spilled upon, emailed, texted, and volunteered. How many times have you packed a perfect suitcase for your kids but forgotten one or more of your own obvious necessities? Or walked out of the house without your cell phone or a spare diaper? It’s okay – even normal. We’re moms, and we’re very, very busy. But even with all the things that are on your to do list, you’ve got to fit in some “ME” time. It’s important to keep you healthy, happy and mentally ready for the challenges of motherhood. Even if you can only squeeze in a few minutes each day – turn it into some valuable “ME” time. Here’s a few ideas that will help you free up a few extra minutes in your day:

Do Less. This is actually the best way to increase your productivity! A recent study found that the best performers in a variety of fields worked in 90-minute sessions with a substantial break between each work session. These people accomplished more in a 4-5 hour workday than those who worked a straight eight hours or more. You will be amazed at how rejuvenated you will feel after a 15 minute break. Say, “No” to some of the volunteer jobs you’ve been doing and try to cut back on activities, decorations, events, and other time-consuming traps whenever possible.

There is a brand of baby gear that designs every product with parenthood in mind. Ingenuity strives to add smart, convenient features that make a noticeable difference in every mom’s day. One way Ingenuity adds time to mom’s day is the Washable Playard™. This innovative playard has fabrics that zip off (in literally minutes) so you can throw it in your washing machine. Baby’s playard will have a machine-washed clean in just minutes. Click here to find out more.

Let go of perfection. Stop obsessing about how well the laundry is folded or getting chores done before bed or other tasks that you feel you HAVE TO get done. Analyze where you are spending your time. Sitting down to read a magazine, relaxing or doing something that fills you with joy is time much better spent.

Loose the distractions. If you can’t stay away from email and social media – turn your computer and phone off for a few hours. These little distractions add up to large chunks of time by the end of the day. So be disciplined about the number of times a day you check your email or social media.

Keep baby busy. Babies can benefit from time to play and learn on their own. Tummy time helps baby strengthen neck and back muscles. Playtime helps baby develop motor skills, attention span, concentration and more. So don’t be afraid to put baby down for brief periods each day with age-appropriate toys to encourage baby to play and learn. Not only is this good for baby, but it can give you a few moments to relax and rejuvenate.

Another great product that can help a busy mom with a younger baby is the Baby Base 2-in-1™ Infant Seat from Ingenuity™. This handy seat helps support babies who are learning to sit, but moms say it also keeps baby stationary during floor playtime so you can sneak in a little relaxation time of your own. However, you should never leave your baby unattended in any kind of infant seat. Click here to learn more.
