Mommy Time Out

Hi! I'm Angela Hickman and I'm a Milton mom to a beautiful girl and handsome boy! Yep I have the "Million Dollar" family:) I love being a mom and my wish is to one day be a stay at home mom. It's tough being a full time employee, mom to highly energetic kids and wife to a wonderful husband. There isn't much time for a Mommy Time Out but I always try to find a little time. I love to shop and find new things that help make life easier and sometimes even more fun. My blog is all about the joys and frustrations of being a mom and hopefully helping other parents find products that will help make their life easier.

Thanks Mom!

Being a mom has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. I love my kids with all my heart and even though it’s not always a happy go lucky job, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Being a mom has made me think a lot about my relationship with my own mom. Growing up I spent a lot of time disagreeing with my parents. I didn’t like that I couldn’t go outside and play whenever I wanted to and what do you mean I have to clean my own...

The art of disciplining (no I haven’t figured it out yet)

Raising kids is hard; there I said it, I bet you didn’t know that. Okay, maybe you did but it is something I have to say out loud sometimes to remind myself that I am not a bad mom. I have to remember that everything my kids do is not always a reflection of how I parent them. It’s what I do in response that is important. Lately, my little miss has been pushing ALL of my buttons. She is trying to see what she can get away with and, to be...

Moms are allowed to have fun too!

I have the best job in the world. No, it's not the one that gives me a weekly paycheck. In fact I don't make any money at all for this job. It's being a mom. I have two awesome kids and I wouldn't trade them for anything in the world. I get paid in hugs and kisses and love every minute of it. However, I do need to take a break every once in awhile. I cherish my "ME" time as much as I cherish the time I spend with my kids. I recognize that I am a...

The Joy of Giving

The holidays are here and many families have different traditions they partake in. We celebrate Christmas Eve with hubby’s family and then Christmas Day with my family. There is a lot of good food and plenty of presents to open. We even have Santa come by Christmas Eve to hand out everyone’s presents to them. This year will be that much more special since Christmas Eve is also Gian-Michael’s birthday. A few years ago when Bella was two,...

How early is too early?

So Halloween is around the corner and I for one am very excited. Halloween has always been one of my favorite days. I loved dressing up as a kid, even though the costumes back then were nothing like what you can get now. Do you remember the plastic outfits and masks you can barely see out of? And of course I LOVE candy and I will admit to “stealing” some of my daughter’s candy…well I wouldn’t want her to get cavities!! LOL I have...

Back To School Season Has Arrived!

It’s that time of year again! Millions of moms are doing a happy dance because next week brings the first week of school. Then there are the ones who are sending their children off for the first time and don’t really know how to feel. I am among those mothers. On one hand I am so excited to get a little break and be able to spend some uninterrupted time with my eight month old. Maybe I’ll actually be able to take him to some mommy and me...

Breastfeeding Tips

Breastfeeding is something women have been doing for centuries but it isn‘t always easy. I was very nervous about breastfeeding because everyone I knew who had kids bottle fed their kids either by choice or because breastfeeding didn’t work for them. I didn’t have anyone to turn to if I needed advice. The following tips are some of the things that make breastfeeding work for me. I breastfed my daughter for 13 months and I am currently...

The Breast Milk Baby – What do you think about it?

Are you a breastfeeding Mama? Do you have a daughter who sees you breastfeed? If you do, I'm sure you have at some point come across your little girl feeding their dolls just like you feed your baby. All little girls want to be just like their moms, and my daughter is no different. I remember the first time I saw her lift her shirt and put her doll to her chest. I found it quite cute; however I wondered if there was a way I could encourage this...

Dads Deserve Love Too

It is quite amusing to me how people think dads are clueless to raising children.  That may have been true when our dads were raising us but men have come a long way in the child rearing business.  Not to say that they don’t need some help but then who doesn’t?  Sure we have maternal instincts that help us get along but who says men don’t have the same? My hubby is a huge help with my kids.  He bathes them, feeds them and yes he...

Moms Rock!

Mother’s Day is around the corner and all moms should be shown our appreciation. Moms are our first link to this life. They bring us into the world, love us and nurture us. Becoming a mommy is my biggest accomplishment in life. A lot of what I have learned about being a mother (besides through trial and error) I learned from mine.I love my mom and I know I don’t tell her that often enough. She is a wonderful mom and grandmother. As a mom,...

My Little Girl Starts School This Year

So this month my baby girl turns 4 years old.  It is bittersweet.  I am excited for the new journey she is going to embark on this year.  In September she will be starting junior kindergarten.  She will be in school 5 days a week for 2.5hrs.  She is already excited for her first day of school and often asks when she can start.  I on the other hand, am nervous for her as I am excited.  Will she make new friends, will she remember her...

Don’t breastfeed in my store! (Are you kidding me!?!)

Stop feeding your child in our store or we’ll have to call security…That is what one woman was told when she was shopping at the Dixie Outlet Mall the other day when she decided to breastfeed her one month old child. When the mother explained to the clerk that she can’t force her to leave for feeding her child, security was called to have her removed. Luckily, the security guard knew the law and explained to the clerk that she can’t be...
