Super Simple Snacks That Are Fun (& Healthy!)

Snacks have become an expected ‘treat’ for kids 30 seconds after they finish meal or go anywhere for more than 5 minutes. Pack your kids up for a date at the park, the doctors, or the neighbours and before you can get settled they will be asking for a snack! Somewhere along the road to raising busy active kids and factoring in busy working parents schedules, snacks turned into packaged processed treats and water got sent to the sidelines...

The Big Arrival

I have to start this blog with a warning to any pregnant women out there. I'm not writing this with the intention of freaking anyone out, just sharing my birthing experience, which was anything but textbook. I had been in labour for close to 24 hours when they wheeled me into the operating room to deliver the twins at just 31 weeks and four days gestation. I had had enough time to get two rounds of steroids for the twins' lung development...

My first “mean girl” experience as a parent…

At kindergarten drop off this morning, my daughter went into her classroom happily and as I was halfway down the hall, her and two friends called out for me. We’ll call them Sarah & Martha. Martha: “Sandy! Come back!” I looked back and saw that Martha was holding up my daughter’s Hello Kitty sweater, which I guess had been at the school for a while. Assuming that they wanted me to take the sweater home I started to walk back...

Week of June 14

My favourite thing that happened this week? Finding this in my son’s homework book:     My heart bursts when I see him reading, but when he actually writes something like this and then doesn’t show me and I find it by accident? Love. Pure love. ~ Sandy What touched your heart this week?

So. We fell. Again.

That’s it: this treatment didn’t lead us to the so desired pregnancy. I haven’t been very busy here at Oh Infertility! But do believe that almost everyday I think “Oh, I should write about that for OI!” but my state of mind has been so down I haven’t had the drive for anything other than automatic behaviour. So, seeing that I am now willing to be myself again and do the things I left behind, I plan on coming here more...

Celebrate Dad this Father’s Day

Father’s Day, or Daddy’s Day as I like to call it, isn’t all about presents. It’s about celebrating dad and letting him know you appreciate all of his hard work and dedication. This year, make Dad feel extra special – without wrapping up a present! How To Be A Safe Driver As A New Parent

Believe it or not, when you’re a new parent, your driving habits will change if you’re not careful.  All of a sudden you’ll have a beautiful bundle of joy in the backseat when you’re out and about running errands and while sometimes baby may be napping, other times it will be wide awake and demanding your attention.  And when babies become toddlers and school age children, you’ll find yourself not always remembering how you got from...

My baby loves sunscreen

Looks like I’ve done something right in this parenting game: I’ve taught my kids to wear sunscreen. My son, (he’s almost eight and so over it) used to cry and scream that he didn’t want us to put sunscreen on him. Now, he still doesn’t love it, but he doesn’t put up a fight anymore. I think he’s figured out that when it comes to sunscreen application around here, resistance is futile. My daughter on the other hand… she loves...

Go Time

I had gotten used to pregnancy gas pains for the past 31 weeks. Not just regular gas but excruciating gas pains that had me doubled over at times. On the night of March 1st while in bed reading, I started to feel these pains once again. This time however, they were so strong they would wake me up every hour. I should mention that the day before this, I had gone for my regular bi-weekly ultrasound. Due to my placenta previa scare they...
